To begin a career in real estate with the Atlantic Partners Group at Keller Williams Realty, you must complete a pre-licensing class, pass the state real estate exam and affiliate with a KWAP real estate office. • Call the office closest to your desired destination. If KWAP does not have an office within 10 miles of your desired location, visit www.kw.com and find an office near you.
• Ask for the date of the next Career Night where you can learn about real estate careers in general.
• Inquire about the opportunity to shadow a real estate salesperson.
• Attend a training class or sales meeting.
• Schedule a brief introductory meeting with the Team Leader or Assistant Team Leader.

To help you decide if a career in real estate is a good fit for you at this time, consider the following financial requirements: 

• It will typically take you about 3-6 months to begin receiving commission income. Be sure you have a plan for living expenses while your business is developing.
• In addition to your living expenses, you will need some capital for your business start-up expenses for the pre-licensing class, Board of Realtors dues, and marketing.  A rough estimate is $2-3000.

In addition to having the necessary funds listed above, the most successful new agents possess a few additional critical characteristics:

• They are learning-based. KWAP has the proven coaching, systems, and training to help you create a successful real estate business. However, you must show up, learn the skills, and put the learning into practice.
• They have basic business acumen, i.e. communication skills, planning skills, organizational skills, work ethic, etc.
• They have a sphere of influence, i.e. the names and contact information for a large group of people from whom referrals can be received.
• They have the basic technological savvy to navigate the new methods of generating leads and completing real estate transactions.
• They have an entrepreneurial mindset. They plan to devote full-time to starting their business. This means getting started early in the day and devoting a full day to the business.
